Establishing your correct Bra Size

A well fitted bra really does make all the difference to how your outfit drapes your body. When purchasing a new bra you should aim to combine the right size with the right style.

Below we provide our (A), (B) & (C) steps to help you achieve your best fit.

(A) Obtaining your Band Size

Wearing your most comfortable bra and using a flexible tape measure, measure underneath your bust and right around your rib cage.

If this measurement is an even number add 4in;

i.e. if your band measurement is 28in and you add 4in then your bra band measurement would be 32in (28in + 4in = 32in).

If your band measurement is an odd number add 5in;

i.e. if your measurement is 33in and you add 5in then your bra band measurement would be 38in (33in + 5in = 38in)

(B) Obtaining your Bust Size

Still wearing your most comfortable bra and using a flexible tape measure, gently measure around the fullest part of your bust; say your bust measurement is 36in.

(C) Obtaining your Cup Size

Your cup size is the difference between your Band Size i.e. 38in and your Bust Size i.e. 36in. The difference therefore between 38in (your Band Size) and 36in (your Bust Size) is 2in.

The Difference between (A) and (B) = (C) Your Cup Size
Measurement Difference Cup Size

6in E
7in EE
8in F

Therefore, by combining your Bra Band Size (A) and your Bust Size (B) and identifying the difference (C) you get your Bra Size 38B.

Bra Styles

Understanding Bra styles will help you to achieve your perfect fit. Below we outline different Bra styles to help you decide which you believe will suit you the best.

The Balconette Bra
This Bra can be worn by all women covering just over half the bust, its supportive, comfortable and easy to wear.

The Balcony Bra
This Bra is designed to uplift and support your figure.

The Full Cup
This Bra is designed to keep the shape and fullness of your bust whilst providing full coverage and support. This Bra is perfect for the larger more voluptuous bust and during pregnancy.

The Minimiser Bra
This Bra is designed to reduce your bust size by about 2in to take the emphasis away from your bust.

The Multi-Way Bra
Conventionally designed for difficult outfits, this Bra maximises how you choose to wear your straps, for example, halter-neck, and crossover or on your shoulders.

The Plunge Bra
This Bra is designed to increase your cleavage whilst wearing low cut necklines.

The Push-Up Bra
This Bra is designed to maximize your cleavage by pushing your breasts together and upwards whilst wearing plunging necklines.

The Seamless Bra
This Bra is designed to give your figure a seamless look when wearing figure hugging clothes.

You'll know when your bra fits correctly when your breasts are fully and comfortably enclosed within the cups, the fabric is smooth with no puckering or bulging and the centre of your bra lies flat against your chest. Your bra band should be level from the front to the back without riding up your back and your bra straps should sit lightly on your shoulders without leaving any marks.

We do advice you to have a professional fitting at least once a year in a specialist boutique and should you require further advice or assistance, please feel free to get in touch with us on 08716 629 917 or email at info@fan2c.com

Which Corset Size?

Wearing a Corset corrects your posture and gives you an hourglass figure and is worn in a size smaller than your natural waist size. Generally speaking corset sizes go up in 2 inch/5cm increments for example 20 inches/51cms, 22 inches/56cms etc.

Your Measurements?
Bust: measure around the fullest part of your bust whilst wearing a supportive, comfortable non-padded bra. This is NOT the same as your bra size.

Waist: measure around the narrowest part of your waist.

Hips: measure around the fullest part of your hips.

As a guide, a size around 4 inches/10cms smaller than your natural waist size generally gives a good fit. However, if one of the above measurements is particularly large or small in proportion to the others (e.g. small bust with large waist and hips) and you are unsure of your corset size please contact us for further advice Contact Us.

How to put your Corset on

Your corset will generally be delivered laced up at the back with two long loops at the waist and the metal front busk fastened.

Undo the metal clasps at the front, loosen the lacing at the back and ease the two halves of the corset apart until it's wide enough for you to step into and pull up to fit your waist.

Ensuring the label is at the top and the lacing at the back, fasten the top metal clasp and the rest should follow.

At the back, pull the loops of the lacing gently, then tighten progressively from both top and bottom towards the middle until you are happy with the fit. Tie the ends in a bow at the back to complete.

Please note that over tightening your Corset may damage it. With time, you will be able to lace your Corset more tightly as it will gradually mould itself to your body shape.
